VSP Global Public Relations Intern
Location: 3333 Quality Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
Salary: $10-$15/hour
Education: Junior or Senior with Public Relations focus
Job Description: Social Media (50%)
The social-media savvy intern will use numerous platforms daily (including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and WordPress) to monitor conversations about VSP and participate in those conversations according to VSP social media guidelines.

  • Monitor conversations daily and work with PR team to respond to customers
  • Identify 6 appropriate engagement opportunities per week (e.g., someone tweeting about needing contacts)
  • Brainstorm blog topics and write them for the VSP Blog regularly
  • Complete one blog per week
  • Contribute to social medial editorial calendar planning for the entire summer
  • Complete auxiliary posts for Q3
  • Complete analysis on prior campaigns; transfer engagement metrics to tracker
  • Use Meltwater and Facebook analytics to complete all analysis for Q2 metrics with social media team
  • Update outdated information and links on VSP’s social media channels weekly

Video Editing (20%)
The intern will use Adobe Premier Elements to take raw video clips, edit, and arrange into a compelling 1-3 minute stories to share in social media. The PR team will help train on the basics of the software but the intern will need to pick things up quickly.
• Work with PR team to edit human interest and special event videos
o Complete at least 6 short videos

Mobile Clinics Media Relations (20%)
VSP has a very busy mobile clinics schedule and the intern will help earn media coverage for those events.
• Work with the PR team to develop media advisories for upcoming mobile clinic events
• Identify appropriate local and trade media and pitch mobile clinic events
• Generate social media coverage for each event and track results

General Public Relations; Other (10%)
The intern will participate in other projects as needed.
• Audit newsroom information for accuracy and update
• Complete remaining YouTube clip uploads to newsroom; audit
